A “guest” is any person you need to add to your course site that does not have a Virginia Tech PID.  This includes both instructors and students.  In Scholar, it was very easy to add anyone by simply adding their non-VT email address to your course sites; however, we are working with Identity Management Services to better control and register guests for Canvas, instead of it just being completely open to add anyone, anywhere to the system.
